WILDLIFE ATTRACTION
Plant Colour

Fagus sylvatica Atropunicea is a beautiful variant commonly known as copper beech, with deep purple-bronze foliage, making it a more dramatic alternative to the traditional beech.

It is also the hedge of choice for our favourite garden designer in the North West of England, Carolyn Willetts!

In France, the edible nuts are still roasted and used as a coffee substitute.

Cooper beech also prefers a well-drained soil as well as a fertile, calcified or slightly acidic ground.

This variety is not afraid to be positioned in full sun.

Due to its distinctive leaf colour, the copper beech is grown as an ornamental tree as well as a hedging plant. It provides a year-round dense screen and provides the perfect habitats for many birds and insects.
